HARRIS KITCHEN + Dining

As a newly blended family of six, the Harris’ had outgrown their existing U-shaped kitchen with eat-in dining. Their goal was to create a space large enough to accommodate their family and dinner guests and provide plentiful storage for the kid’s school gear. By taking over an existing screened porch as interior space, we were able to double the size of the existing kitchen and dining area without changing the roofline of the house. We kept the new rear wall clear of cabinetry to allow for door height windows which maximize natural light and views to their expansive backyard. A large 10’ island ensures that every family member has a seat for breakfast.

We relocated the existing laundry room to the second floor which created space for a large walk-in pantry. Custom millwork maximizes storage space in the existing mud room. Finally, a new bar area creates privacy between the new space and the first-floor owner suite. The end of the bar serves as the perfect display area for the family fish habitat!
