About
Lane Miller is the owner and principal architect of Miller Architecture + Design, licensed in the state of North Carolina. After ten years of work on higher education, science and technology, and cultural projects, she started her own company to bring higher quality design to the residential market. She is passionate about client-centered design that elevates the everyday living experience by creating harmonious, light-filled environments.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Lane studied architecture at NC State University and received a BA in Architecture in 2007. After working for firms in Chicago and Washington, DC, and serving for a year in AmeriCorps, Lane returned to the Triangle to work with The Freelon Group. Her commercial architecture experience includes Gary Comer College Prep in southside Chicago, NC Electric Membership Corporation headquarters in Raleigh, and the Duke Medical Sciences Research Building III at Duke University. She opened Miller Architecture + Design in 2017 and has since enjoyed her work with clients on a full range of project needs, from kitchen and bath renovations to full custom plans. She also collaborates with her husband, Dan Miller, owner and operator of the general contracting company Build Raleigh, on for sale residences that improve the standard of design for the local housing stock.
When she’s not designing, Lane enjoys gardening, drawing portraits of her kids, and planning travel excursions with her husband. She serves on the Board of Directors for Follow the Child Montessori School as the Facilities Committee Chair. In addition, she is a member of the Women in Architecture Circles through AIA Triangle that provide mentorship and support among female cohorts in the profession.
